Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791)


Vienna, Schulerstraße 8. - Between 1784 and 1787, Wolfgang and Constanze Mozart lived here with their children in a prestigious apartment consisting of four rooms, two closets and a kitchen on the first floor of the building, then two storeys high. It is the only surviving Mozart apartment in Vienna. Here the composer wrote important works, including the opera "Le Nozze di Figaro" (KV 492). It is also the source of the musical quotation, the beginning of Cherubino's aria from the second act ("Voi che sapete che cosa è amor") in German version: "Ihr, die ihr Triebe des Herzens wohl kennt".
